United States: The Texas State Health Department reported more than 600 verified measles cases in 2025, and almost 30 new infections were discovered between April 18 and the current time.

The Texas Department of State Health Services reported that 624 confirmed measles cases were recorded in Texas from late January until April 22.
The childhood disease outbreak mostly affects the western areas of Texas. State health authorities declared an increase of 27 new cases between April 18 and the present.
The Texas Department of State Health Services tracks 624 measles cases, with 64 hospitalizations and two tragic deaths in unvaccinated children who were healthy.
An 8-year-old female child belongs to this mortality count. According to the state health department, most measles cases affected children and teenagers; 186 cases were diagnosed in kids under four years old, while 236 cases were detected among patients aged from five to seventeen years old.

According to the state health department, “Less than two percent, or fewer than 10 of the confirmed cases, are estimated to be actively infectious since their rash onset date was less than a week ago,” USA Today reported.
“Individuals are infectious four days prior to and four days after rash onset,” it added.
The outbreak of measles transmission in Texas is active in 10 Texas counties: Cochran, Dallam, Dawson, Gaines, Garza, Lynn, Lamar, Lubbock, Terry, and Yoakum.
The state health department identified 386 new measles cases in Gaines County, which elevated the total outbreak count to 371 reported on April 18.
According to reports from New Mexico health officials on April 22, the state exceeded its previous update total by two cases, creating 65 reported cases. The large majority of New Mexico’s COVID-19 cases stemming from Lea County maintains proximity to Gaines County in Texas.
