United States: Officials from Miami-Dade County Public Schools established that a patient with measles attended Miami Palmetto Senior High School in Pinecrest.
A spokesperson from the district acknowledged the reported case on Tuesday afternoon yet disclosed minimal information because the affected person is under the age of eighteen.
As per the statement released by the school, it was working closely with the local health department to “ensure the health and safety of our school community,” wsvn.com reported.
How parents reacted to the news?
As per Jill Katz, who received the call while in the stands for her son’s lacrosse game Tuesday night, “I wasn’t too concerned because my children are vaccinated.”
“Being in a public school with close quarters, we absolutely believe that vaccination is important. I’m not sure why this happened if the kid is not vaccinated or just happened to get it,” stated Yasmin Kazi, who is a parent and a physician.
“We’re hoping that most kids are vaccinated and they won’t get it,” Kazi added.

An infected person releases the virus through breathing or by sneezing and coughing, thus spreading the disease easily.

The District 6 High School principal, Victoria Dobbs, sent parents a letter requesting notification about measles symptoms in case their children were exposed to infected persons by the local health department.
The newest South Florida reporting of the virus coincides with increasing cases across the United States.
“We regret to inform you a student has been diagnosed with measles,” Dobbs added.
The Texas region stands out as a significant hotspot because officials have verified 159 measles cases, and one person, including a child who lacked proper vaccinations, has died.
Eight other states, in addition to Florida, are currently reporting measles cases, as per the CDC data.
The total number of hospitalizations reached 48,000, while the disease killed between 400 and 500 individuals during the last year.
The MMR vaccine serves as the most effective method to prevent measles infection.
